Project description

Olivas Rocks provided executive development, organization wide cultural and performance assessments, strategic development, training, and implementation services to SLFHC. Olivas Rocks engineered the project from concept to close.

SLFHC is a Federally Qualified Health Center with revenue sources dependent on patient services, government grants, government compliance, and private donations. SLFHC identified the creation of a grassroots advocacy initiative as part of the organization’s strategic plan, with the goal to build their constituency, education and mobilization, identify the target population as customers/stakeholders at the local, regional, state and federal levels.

The Board identified anticipated outcomes to be:

  • Increased Board involvement with SLFHC;
  • Increased understanding of SLFHC;
  • The organizations’ mission, vision and goals; and
  • Increased engagement/support of SLFHC.

SLFHC used the collective voice and actions of dedicated employees and community partners to speak out for the benefit of SLFHC as having a noble mission worthy of support. SLFHC’s advocates work to advance issues that impact health care quality standards, funding of new health care and construction projects, and also funding through government and private donation sources.

SLFHC’s advocacy project was clearly defined for the benefit of SLFHC in the following ways:

  • To build employee engagement on behalf of SLFHC;
  • To solicit and/or cause to raise public awareness about critical health issues;
  • To create a culture of leadership in the health care industry;
  • To build awareness about government rules / regulations / laws that affects health care; and
  • To solicit and/or cause donations
